I simply can't believe it! Happy Birthday is copyrighted!

The 'Happy Birthday' song is copyrighted and earns Time Warner $2 million a year in royalties......... Here's a campaign to rightfully enforce strict payment of the royalties to Time Warner. ifonly I'd known all these years - in fact, as a law abiding citizen, I'll think I'll go back and pay for all the times I've sang it publicly.

Cool illusion

Thanks to Mark Levinson for this.

If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, you will only see one color, pink.
If you stare at the black + in the center, the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black + in the center of the picture. After a short period of time,
all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see a green dot rotating if you're lucky!

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see.

Jarhead

This is so good I have to make one - just have to find a "flattened rendering of a face that would be applied to a 3d model". And some hair.

ADSL2+ Speed vs Distance

Apparently the speed of ADSL2+ drop dramatically after a couple of km. I don't think the new ISP I've signed up for (Be Unlimited) will give me the 24Mbps download speed in the marketing blurb. Won't find out until December...

Illusionist art

Some excellent eye-popping art of nested faces within faces and illusions. The Escher one's of water flowing uphill everyone knows, but the other ones of faces I don't - any ideas?

Link Escher et al...

What's the point of it all ???????

What's the point of a blog? As an act of publishing, unless you write original, creative content there is little point in bothering to make one. There is even less point reading everyone elses tedious content - which mostly seems to just reference each other in a pointlessly sycophantic loop going up its own arse.

Because I do not have time to be a journalist along with my day job, real-life, I shall just use this as a dumping ground for things I find along the way. A bit like an anti-social bookmark holder along the lines of del.icio.us. Or call it a lifeblog - i.e. only of interest to me, as an aide-memoir for stuff?

Call me a curmudgeon or a luddite . Am I in the process of an act of neo-luddism or am I just an old-fart?

BreadKrumbs

Cool way to leave a trail of virtual breadkrumbs through Flickr leading you from one photo to another. Just messing around on this one. Click on the photo and the BreadKrumb is left in the comments section underneath. Looks like early code but will surely grow into to something more than just Flickr - being able to leave BreadKrumbs in any 'comment' box on any site??

Here's the link to the BreadKrumb people or cat or whatever
